Interview with Jason Kaufmann, President of Teyran Bike

  • HelloJason, first off can you introduce yourself for our readers?

Hello everyone, my name is Jason KAUFMANN, I am 33 years old and I have been president of Teyran Bike since 2019. I have been a runner for several years and I try to juggle between the different roles, both manager of the club and active member of the sports team.

  • Can you present the Teyran bike club in a few words?

The Teyran Bike club was created just 20 years ago today. At the beginning, it was a club rather oriented towards cycle tourism. Then in 2017, a racing section was created and we took over this project in 2019.

We now have nearly 150 members of all levels and ages, distributed as follows:

– The performance center which is our first team for experienced runners

– The club team for novice or occasional competitors

– The academy for cadets and juniors

– The leisure

section

– And our team Handisport

The objective being that each member can find his place in the club and in a group to practice and share his passion according to his desire and its level.

  • How was the previous year at the club?

The year 2022 has been extremely rich for the club, with the creation of the performance center and a record number of organizations: 7 events in total thanks to the strong mobilization of office members and volunteers. I thank them for their commitment and all of our partners for their support.

We are very happy to have relaunched, with the Grand Prix d'Assas, a race in the 1st FFC category in the sector. And moreover, for having organized the FSGT Regional Time Trial Championship in Saint-Paul and Valmalle. All this, in addition to our usual meetings (Randonnes de la Teyrannaise, Grand Prix de Teyran, On D'cols, etc.)

In terms of sporting results, an incredible season well above the objectives fixed with 17 wins on the clock.

A very good start to the season with the victory of Nicolas chapel at the Tour de l'Hortus, then it quickly followed with various riders who were able to raise their arms and that until the end of the season with the final victory over the team time trial in Saint Paul and Valmalle.

Highlight of the year the three FSGT national champion titles:
- Hugo Vallier Ville (Hope) Jacques Casas (Senior) Marine Maugé (Senior Female)

At the French Masters FFC championship, we also came close to the title with Nicolas Chapel's second place.

Our young cadets also distinguished themselves during the cyclo-cross season, mainly with Mathieu Junius whom we support in his progress.

I would like to thank all the staff and the Sporting Director Jean-Sébastien Fabien who were able to put the riders in the best possible position to achieve the objectives set.

  • How does the coming year look like for the club and what are your main objectives?

The 2023 season promises to be a continuation of 2022, we have carried out a recruitment that we believe is relevant with riders who should allow the team to reach a new level.

To further refine our structure, we have, thanks to one of our partners, been able to create Team Sud Formation / Teyran Bike, which will be our flagship team with seven talented riders, regularly reinforced by the reserve team and the U19s. The objective is to perform in the various championships but also in the many stage races planned.

We are also launching a high-level mountain bike project with Team Ote Sport / Teyran Bike which will consist of a single rider. Former professional Anthony Zaragoza, who will go to national events and XCO World Cups with great ambitions.

We will also be offering club weekends for members, trips to cyclosportives and training courses: the first is already planned for the end of January in the Alpilles.

  • Can we follow the news of the club somewhere?

Of course! We are very present on social networks (Facebook, Instagram, Strava), we also have a regularly updated website.

  • What do you want to tell readers to make them want to join your club?

We have been developing for several seasons, with the management team, a structure which aims to welcome all cycling enthusiasts whatever their practice with several weekly outings and different groups allowing everyone to have fun.

We also want to focus on training and offer young competitors the opportunity to be accompanied by experienced runners to discover the high level and make our sport even more attractive with the aim of nurturing young talents. .

We sincerely thank Rêve de Vélo for committing to our side and supporting us in our projects. We are very pleased with this new partnership with a major player in local cycling,

See you on the bike for a great year 2023!
