Interview with Jean-Marc Tabouret, president of Lunel Bike

  • In a few words can you introduce yourself? (seniority at the club, if you still practice cycling...)

Jean Marc Tabouret, member of the LUNEL BIKE club since 2011. I still practice road biking on a regular basis for a weekly outing.

  • Can you briefly introduce the club, how it works, the activities offered, the number of members, etc.? Life in the club? (Training, activities…)

The LUNEL BIKE club was created in 2005. It offers two sections, the one for road biking with around 20 members and the other mountain biking with nearly 30 members. The outings are organized on Saturday mornings, they are supervised by referents. The club is also a member of the French Cycling Federation to benefit from a framework and coverage for its practice.

    Whether it's at the level of the mountain bike section, Road or the bike school and    what were the events offered by the club...?

The year 2021 has been rich in activities and events.

We were keen to reopen the Mountain Bike School. Participation in several activities in partnership with the City of Lunel (Festi'jeunes, teen club) allowed us to set out again to conquer the youngest.

Objective achieved, the Mountain Bike School restarted in September 2021 with 2 groups, with our partner Cyrpeo for the supervision of the sessions.

At the same time, on the Road side, two practicing members obtained their educator diploma. We were therefore able to welcome young people in the section, motivated and their presence is very appreciated by the members.

On the event side, well the 1st edition of the Fireflies of Ambrussum on November 06, 2021 exceeded the expected . With more than 300 participants, mountain bikers, walkers and canicrossers responded to the format of this night hike in the heart of the local heritage. A great evening!

  • How does 2022 look for the club, what are your main objectives and what do you hope for this year? What events does the clubplan to organize next?

We will consolidate the start of the bike school. A labeling process by the FFC is in progress.

On the road side, we are going to reconnect with participation in the hikes and patents of the Hérault clubs, participation in the Ardéchoise and some cyclosportives. We will also be offering our 4th edition of La Pescalune Route – between vineyards and scrubland on June 11, with most certainly a Gravel loop on the menu!

On the mountain bike side, the section will go to the Rock d'Azur, will organize their traditional weekend in Rosas and of course, a new edition of the Lucioles d'Ambrussum on November 05!
